Be kind to your mind

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase; just take the first step.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sometimes I wonder why anyone can’t understand me. Why is it always me? Why can’t they just let me be alone? Why can’t they let things be as they are? …… What would they think of me? How can they say that about me? ……What if I’m not that good enough… What if s/he hates me… So much overthinking and many of these WH questions making us question ourselves… But the main question still prevails: “Are these questions really worthy… are they….?”.This answer can vary according to every individual and how they perceive life, especially in our youth, and during teen times we have asked these types of questions to ourselves and many times question our worth… and some even took the step of self-harming themselves because of the imaginative bully that is inside their mind. Usually parents or friends are not able to understand our thoughts and usually say don’t overthink as if it is a machine that we can stop. At those times, seeking help is also very tough, as fear of being judged and facing society makes it harder. There are therapies and activities that help in improving youth mental health. It’s okay to not feel the need to talk to anyone or to go outside, and sometimes even to just smile, but what is not okay is to not try taking those first steps. Make your targets. Try to achieve that goal. So what if one day we fail? We will try next day. Yes, we will try and keep on trying until we succeed… and remember, it’s okay not to be okay, and asking for help is a sign of strength.

Life can be a rollercoaster, but with a few simple tips, we can make the ride smoother and more fun. Ready? Let’s dive in!

1. Stay Active and Move Your Body! 🏃‍🏃 ‍

Exercising and sporting isn’t just for staying fit; it’s a fantastic way to boost your mood. Whether it’s dancing in your room, playing sports, or just taking a walk, moving your body releases happy chemicals called endorphins. So, next time you feel down, get up and move!

2. Talk It Out 🗣

Got something on your mind? Share it! Talk to a friend, family member, or even a teacher. Talking about your feelings can lighten the load and help you feel understood. There’s nothing that can quite replace that human connection of sitting down and really talking to someone face-to-face.

3. Good food, good mood 😋

What you eat can affect how you feel. Try to eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, veggies, and whole grains. And yes, it’s perfectly fine to enjoy your favorite treats too! Just remember, good food fuels a good mood.

4. Catch Those Zzz’s 😴 💤

Sleep is super important for mental health. Aim for 8–10 hours of sleep each night. Create a relaxing bedtime routine and try to go to bed at the same time every night. Good sleep equals a happy and relaxed mind!

5. Digital Detox 📵

We all love our gadgets, but too much screen time can be overwhelming. Try to take breaks from your phone and social media. Spend time doing things you love offline, like reading, drawing, or hanging out with friends.

6. Practice mindfulness 🧘‍♀

Mindfulness is all about being present in the moment. Try simple activities like deep breathing, meditation, yoga, or just noticing and enjoying the world around you. It helps reduce stress and keeps you grounded.

7. Stay Positive 🌈

Positive thinking can make a big difference. Keep a journal and write down things you’re thankful for. Surround yourself with positive people and focus on the good things in life. Remember, you’re awesome just the way you are!

8. Get Creative 🎨

Expressing yourself through art, music, writing, or any other creative outlet can be therapeutic. It’s a great way to let out emotions and have fun at the same time.

9. Set Goals and Achieve Them 🎯

Having goals gives you a sense of purpose and direction. Start with small, achievable goals and celebrate when you reach them. It’s a great confidence booster!

10. Be Kind to Yourself 💖

We can be our own worst critics. Practice self-compassion and treat yourself with the same kindness you’d offer a friend. You’re doing your best, and that’s amazing!Remember, buddy, mental health is a journey, not a destination. It’s okay to seek help when you need it and to take things one step at a time. You’re strong, capable, and deserving of all the happiness in the world. Keep shining, and take care of that beautiful mind of yours! 🌟
